Barbizar arose from the fascination for the toy barbie: icon and role model for many girls since 1959. Who did not grow up with her? Or with Fleur or Cindy! I photograph this doll in a playful way and investigate it's role and influence in society. With her bizarre sizes, eternal smile and endless legs, she is still widely represented as a beauty ideal. By taking her out of context, the doll acquires a different meaning and I question the woman as a sex object.
